About Jon

In 2000 I had my first Alexander Technique lesson, I was pretty much hooked from the start, I left the lesson almost floating with my joints feeling as if they had been filled with oil, a noticeable reduction in physical tension as well as mental.

I learnt something I had never considered before, that it is a mistake to think that the condition we find ourselves in is something that just happens to us. The way we use our bodies has a large effect on how they function, if we use our bodies in a way that works well with their design and function we tend to feel a whole lot better than if we force movements or retain tensions that are not productive. It’s actually very good news because if it’s what we do or rather the way we do things that cause our problems, aches and pains then if we can learn to do things differently we can make positive change.

Since that first lesson I have been very interested in the relation between the way we move and our well being, this led to me undertaking the 1600 hour, three year teacher training course to become an Alexander Technique teacher.

My other interests include modern design and art, hand built metal lighting products which I hope to market, my wife and I own nine acres of woodland which envelopes our home and demands my forestry skills. In summer time, when weather permits clients are welcome, if they wish, to take lessons outside and enjoy fresh air, nature, the birds and trees.

My wife and I have lived in various countries and at times in our lives have owned a large campsite and a small mountain hotel.
